I really enjoyed how this group of six women, now five since the suspicious death of their friend who just returned to town, have stayed friends since kindergarten. They all worked well together when it came to sleuthing. Clare was the main character, but she did a little snooping with her pal Libby, then she ended up doing a lot of the snooping with Bev, since Libby still had small children to take care of. The banter and humor were really good and I had to admire the determination Clare had to find out who had killed their good friend who was no saint, but what in the world could she have done to have gotten someone angry enough to kill her?
I definitely hadn’t guessed the killer until the clues started falling together. I had an idea before Clare knew about it and kept wishing she’d have been as careful at that moment as she had during the rest of the book. But her own ingenuity kicked in, and she was able to take care of the killer herself. Sometimes it paid to keep an older vehicle that people had ragged on her to replace!
